Library Book Fair 2009 Results

The Library Book Fair was a great success! The selection of books received a positive response from students, teachers, and parents. No attempt was made to count the total number of books sold but gross sales totaled $6,786.44 - as you might expect down from last year. The library made a profit of $1,646.61 which will be used to purchase library books.

Many families participated in the Classroom Gift Book Program by purchasing books selected from the Book Fair by the teachers for their classrooms. Their generosity allowed teachers to enrich their classroom book collections. Thank you to all who supported the Book Fair in this way.

To generate excitement a free Gift Basket Raffle was held during the Book Fair. All students received one ticket for the raffle in their homerooms. Students could choose to take a chance on one of three baskets. Each basket contained books and other trinkets. The baskets were awarded to the students on the last day of the Book Fair, Tuesday, March 31. The winners were –

  • Primary Basket – Charlie B., room 111
  • Intermediate Basket – Isabella C., room 221
  • Middle School Basket – Ben S., room B5

Undertakings such as the Book Fair can not happen without the support and labor of many. As always the Falk parents volunteered the needed help. Thank you to those who took time from their busy schedules to support the Book Fair in this way.

Special thanks to Book Fair chair Shelley Ross who worked with Ms. Herward on all aspects of running the Book Fair. Her work began in January continued with recruiting and scheduling the volunteers, refining publicity flyers, making bank deposits, training volunteer cashiers, and many other activities to support the project.
