Book Badges sheet in Word format or in pdf format

During the Spring Reading Initiative students are encouraged to fill out a Book
Badge for each book they read themselves and for each book that is read to them. Fill in the
title and the number of pages in the book on the appropriate blanks on the
Badge. Unpaged books are usually 32 pages. If more than one person
listens to the book a formula may be used; for example a teacher reading to a
class would write 24 x 32 p. A parent reading to two children may write 3 x 64 p. The Badges are attached to a paper chain which is strung about library. The Reading Chain is moved to the gym for the SSR Read-In. As the rains come and the plants grow so does the Reading Chain! A sheet of Book Badges is included with other Reading Initiative materials. The sheet of Badges should be cut apart to make individual Book Badges. Additional Badges are available in the intermediate and primary homerooms and in the library. Completed Badges may be returned in the homerooms or in the library. The total number of pages read to date will be recorded each day and posted on a bulletin board in the library, outside the school office, and on the Spring Reading Initiative Page Count web page. Spring Reading Initiative materials are sent home at the end of March or in early April.
