Library Circulation Policies and Procedures

  1. Circulating books may be checked out for two weeks.

  2. Intermediate and Middle School students may have up to five (5) books checked out at one time.

  3. Circulation procedures and limits for Primary groups change during the year based on readiness of the group.

  4. Books may be renewed for an additional two weeks.  Certain high demand books may not be renewed.

  5. Reference books generally are used in the library.   Materials may be copied as needed.

  6. Current issues of magazines are used in the library.  Intermediate and middle school students may check out back issues.

  7. Students in Primary K through Intermediate III are given time for circulation usually every two week.

  8. Library materials may be returned to a library box in the homeroom.   These books need to be brought to the library and checked in before students check out additional materials.

  9. Materials may be placed on reserve by a teacher for a class assignment.  These materials are used in the library and do not circulate for a specified time.

  10. A "hold" may be placed on a book that is check out to another person.  It will be set aside for the student when it is returned to the library.  High demand books are not held.

  11. Students will be billed for long overdue or lost books.

  12. If a book is lost, students are encouraged to look carefully at home and school. Often books are found. Books may be paid for by cash or check made out to Falk School Library Fund.  If a paid book is found during the same school year, the payment will be refunded.  All money collected for lost books is used to purchase new books.
